About the Show

A boy is brought in from the wild to a mission. The nuns think he’s a savage, because he doesn’t speak their language. Worse still, he believes in strange, mischievous spirits, who taught his tribe to sing, dance and paint magic, and who now live hidden from human view. Sister Bernadette gives the boy a book: in it, strange, mischievous spirits, who once had great magical powers. Now, living safely hidden from human view, they’re called the Little People. The boy, not surprisingly, thinks she’s a savage. Gradually, their dreams begin to intertwine … Wild Child is based on real-life experiences, as told to the writer by aboriginal elders in Central Australia and North-West India, and by some of the last surviving Europeans who taught them. Storytelling, South Asian and Australian dance, live music, haunting mask/puppets and wild digitally generated projections swirl together in the company’s unique and unmissable performance style.
